JEE Counselling result
This morning I logged into the JEE website to check my counseling result. I had hoped that it would be BHU mech, or maybe CSE/Electrical at some new IIT. No such Luck.
I was instead assigned mechanical at IIT Mandi. The thought of spending biting chilly winters throughout the year and return to Delhi just in time for the summer wasn’t appealing. Definitely.
More importantly, mechanical as a branch holds no fascination for me. I simply abhor drawing and I have a vague feeling that drawing complex machines in 3D wouldn’t be much fun either. Lab work runs along similar lines.
I do think that in the second counselling, I will get something more acceptable. It only needs a few dissatisfied souls, from four thousand, to do the needful. But it won’t be much different – electrical at some new IIT or mechanical at IT BHU/ New IIT. No, thanks.
BITSAT doesn’t offer much hope at 330 either. IIIT Hyderabad CS 4 year is still the first option.
Let’s see where this goes.

Thanks for your reply. I will call you back after knowing the exact ranks in JEE and AIEEE
Hai, Apoorv Gupta,
I am trying to gather some info about IIITH and found your blog. I would like to know your feed back during your past two year stay at IIITH and the CS four year program. Given an option of BIotech/Metllurgy @ IIT B/D/M and CS 4 yr @IIITH which one do you suggest. can you suggest me a forum where I can learn more about IIIT H.
Don’t count your chickens before they hatch.Rank Prediction is more of an art than a science and all coaching institutes prefer to be optimistic.
Also, I’d say that one should always give preference to the branch of one’s choice since you have to work with it for at the next least four years. You will find it hard to be good at something that you detest.
Though I don’t know much about the other options, I’d say that at my college, the academics is thorough, the grading is lenient and the placements are stellar. You will find a passionate coding community, which is willing to teach – part of the reason why IIITians regularly win coding competitions at national and international forums. Also, the city is metropolitan, friendly and hindi acquainted.
Though iiit.ac.in has an official forum that will address your queries, the participation is low. The BITS forum is far more active.
